AIJAC hosted a luncheon on 16 May 2016 with Amir Ohana MK and Major-General Jim Molan in Sydney.

Amir Ohana is a lawyer, former Shin Bet official and the first openly gay Likud MK to serve in the Knesset. He entered the parliament on 27 December 2015 and serves on the Finance and the Foreign Affairs and Defence Committees, in addition to being a member of the Lobby for Medical Cannabis and chairing the Lobby for Shaping the Gun-Carrying Policy. He co-chairs the Israel-Japan Parliamentary Friendship Group. He is the chairman of Ga’ava BaLikud (Pride in the Likud), the party’s gay caucus.

Major-General Jim Molan is a retired senior Australian Army officer and Distinguished Service Cross recipient. He was part of an international group of former military commanders who investigated Operation Protective Edge in 2014 and found Israel’s actions were lawful and legitimate and it did not target civilians. In November 2015 he participated in the first Australia Israel Be’er Sheva Dialogue, a defence and security exchange.

Ohana spoke on the Israeli security situation, Palestinian knife attacks and being the first gay Likud MK, with Major General Molan speaking on participating in the first Australia Israel Be’er Sheva Dialogue and Australia’s current security policy.
